What it tells me is that it confirms exactly what I already knew.

I also believe that your proposed solution is way too mild and academic.

To me the real problem is that many Indonesians remain extremely poor, despite being born in a country with huge intrinsic wealth, both above and below ground.

Feel free to xall me cynical, but to me the main reason is that the vast majority of Indonesians are chaotic, very short term focused, selfish and lazy, so they manage to stay uneducated and incompetent, even in this day of unlimited internet access.

What makes your problem then even worse is that you guys allow your country to be run by people with a triple degree in incompetence, laziness and corruption, so now you have to add low PISA scores, low life expectancy, rat infested potholed streets, TBC and lots of pollution to the equation as well.

I understand what you are trying to do, but I believe you need to dream a little bigger .... ;)

And may i know, what's the alternative solution to this issue in your opinion?

In Indonesia democracy has made most people free in principle, but very poor in practice, just like it has done in The Philippines, Brazil and most of Africa. Side note: have a think about the 1 ingredient recently missing from South Africa and turning the country into 1 huge garbage dump.

Effectively evolution through democracy has also done very little for most Indonesians in 80 years or 3 generations, as democracy was not invented in or for these sort of societies in the first place.

Also many people in these sort of countries cannot even make important decisions in their own life, so why even give them a vote in important decisions for the whole country. They will vote for a clown, so you will get a clown.

I think you need some revolution to a benign dictatorship, just like in Singapore or maybe even China. This could even be by force, funded from abroad, East India Company or VOC style.

I am happy to do the job, but you will need to give me full control.

Unlike the corrupt local little fuckers, who talk a lot, come up with a crazy new idea every week, but do very little and certainly take no responsibility for anything, I would start by putting in some KPIs for myself and my administrators.

Assuming 10 years in charge, the main KPIs would be:

improve life expectancy from 70 to 80 over those 10 years

improve average IQ test result from 80 to 90

improve GDP/person by 10% per yr

improve Timnas FIFA ranking from 100 to 50

If I fail to meet my own KPIs, I get no pay whatsoever.

If I meet them, I get double pay, a big statue in the middle of MONAS and I get to pick my successor.

If you are interested in the difference in outcomes between systems built by the corrupt local boys and systems built by middle aged white men, read my story Indonesia Has the Talent. So Why Does It Waste So Much of It?

The statistics are absolutely staggering!
